A full four decades after the Shangri-Las ended their lengthy run as the girl group world's reigning melodramatic hitmakers, the outfit's lead singer and sole remaining member, Mary Weiss, returns with her unexpected and powerful solo debut, DANGEROUS GAME. Shepherded by the great garage-rock revivalist label Norton Records and featuring modern-day soul-rockers the Reigning Sound as her backing band, DANGEROUS GAME features Weiss singing powerful leads on a series of songs by the Reigning Sound's Greg Cartwright, as well as a pair of lost punk-era gems by the Real Kids and the Dictators and a sterling remake of the Shangri-Las hit "Heaven Only Knows." Sounding stronger and grittier than her 16-year-old self, Weiss returns as a woman to reclaim her girl-group crown.
