Sub Dub is aligned with New York's 'illbient' crew, whose members include like-minded luminaries such as DJ Spooky, We, and DJ Olive. DANCEHALL MALFUNCTION throws dirt in the face of dub, spoils its languid studio air by injecting the mysteries of the Middle East into its rugged environs, technologically sullies it without losing the modern-day edge of technology. Raz Mesinai, who also trades as Badawi, is a one-man rhythm machine, capable of situating the smoky dancehall right in the heart of the Casbah.

For starters, check out the sultry but gargantuan groove of "Oaxaca," where hookah pipes whistle amongst synthetic assassins as ancient rituals crumble about the woofers like so much chaff. Or get down with the interstellar hip-hop menace of "Jawbreaker," which takes its urban sprawl posthaste to the jungle, erupting in a spirited heat-haze of drum 'n' bass rhythms and calcified bass thumps. Plunge hip deep into the rhythmic clouds of this dancehall. You won't look at techno-dub the same way twice again.
