The 1960s-obsessed indie popsters the Capitol Years turn in some of their finest material on 2006'S DANCE AWAY THE TERROR. With overt nods to late-period Beatles and Big Star, and clear sympathies with contemporaries like the Shins, the Capitol Years leave behind some of the crunchy garage aesthetic of their past work in favor of chiming guitars and lush, high-flying harmonies. The results are thoroughly enjoyable, thanks mostly to lead singer and songwriter Shai Halperin's grasp of irresistibly hooky popcraft.
