Mixing a delicate texture with a sense of exquisite joy, singer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Reitherman creates gospel-tinged indie folk-pop with a slight post-punk undercurrent using the moniker Throw Me the Statue. With literary lyrics which waver James Joyce-style from the abstract to the starkly emotional, bearing a hefty weight in stark contrast to both his wistful vocals and lightly orchestral arrangements, Reitherman set to build an underground music empire around his band, forming Baskerville Hill Records in the mold of K or Elephant 6. Early on in the project, Reitherman recruited a band to tour, a backdrop which nominally transformed Throw Me the Statue into a four-piece.
