Based loosely on tales from Charles Bukowski's LOVE IS A DOG FROM HELL, Domininque Deruddere's CRAZY LOVE examines three pivotal nights over the course of twenty years in the life of hapless antihero Harry Voss, as he learns firsthand about love and defeat. First, as a child, he develops an unrealistically romantic view of love based on fairy tales. Next, as an acne-scarred teenager, he must find a way to get closer to the girl of his dreams. Finally, as an alcoholic adult, he finds that there is always a way to find some female companionship--even if it means crossing the boundaries of what is socially acceptable. Though often grotesque and guaranteed to offend sensitive viewers, this critically-acclaimed Belgian production contains a unique and winning blend of pathos and black comedy.
