Product note'Cope' is the second album from Brighton/Los Angeles based DJ and producer Adam Freeland. Relocating to LA, Freeland looked to combine his love of dance and indie after the mainly breaks, soul and hip hop sound of 2003's 'Now And Them'. Teaming up with fellow producer Alex Metric and finding vocalist Kurt Baumann sitting in his LA garden, they set to work creating a hybrid mix of dance floor friendly electro indie. 'Cope' features a whole host of guest vocalists and players including Devo frontman Jerry Casale, legendary Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and Pixies' guitarist Joey Santiago. The singles 'Under Control' and 'Do It' are included. Title NoteAt times, electronica can come off as one of the coldest and non-feeling types of music -- as it can sound like it's an android behind its creation, rather than a human being. But the 2009 release by acclaimed DJ Adam Freeland, Cope (credited to just Freeland) proves once and for all that the genre -- when done right with a little bit of good, old-fashioned creativity -- can be quite an artistic expression. Although admittedly, Freeland does so by accumulating a gaggle of varied guests throughout -- the Pixies'Joey Santiago, Spinnerette's Brody Dalle, Devo's Jerry Casale, and M”tley Cr�e's Tommy Lee. Standouts include the Dalle-sung dance-punk of "Borderline," as well as the decidedly Devo-sounding "Only a Fool (Can Die)" (obviously due to the fact of Casale's inclusion on the track).
