Title Note

Irving Berlin: Joseph S. Szurly, Brian Drutman.

Recording information: 1933 - 1950.

Perhaps the composer who best sums up the vitality of 20th century American popular music, the prolific and versatile Irving Berlin wrote both the showbiz anthem "There's No Business Like Show Business" and the alternative national anthem, "God Bless America." This entry in Decca's series of Broadway show tunes features a fraction of Berlin's output, including "Heatwave," "It's a Lovely Day Today," and Hostess With the Mostess," sung by such legendary Broadway performers as Patti LuPone, Dick Haymes, and Ethel Merman.
