Favorites of the legendary BBC radio DJ John Peel, the Scottish band the Delgados regularly made recordings of works-in-progress for his show, including alternate versions of album tracks, and covers of songs by the band's favorite artists. These recordings are anthologized in this charming and frequently revelatory double CD set, which includes covers of ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky" and Cat Stevens' "Matthew and Son." Early songs, recorded for BBC Radio Scotland before the band's debut album, DOMESTIQUES, display the punk energy that predated later, more lyrical works like "Everything Goes Around the Water."
