This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.

In the years following its inception, MTV has been releasing musical compilations based on playlists, various shows, and random eras of their history, so it's almost shocking that 20 years into its existence, country sister station CMT is just releasing its first collection, CMT MOST WANTED, VOLUME 1. This initial set collects country hits from the first few years of the 21st century.

Like the station itself, the tracks on CMT MOST WANTED manage to balance eclecticism with crowd pleasers. The compilation opens with a boom, on Mark Willis' jaunty recollection "19 Somethin'" and closes with the chillingly soft piano piece "I'm Movin' On" by the stalwart Rascal Flatts. Pop crossover superstar Leann Rimes' "I Need You" hangs out two tracks from prodigy-turned-bluegrass-icon Alison Krauss and her haunting ballad "Maybe." Meanwhile, longtime critic's darling Dwight Yoakam's stellar "The Back of Your Hand" mingles with newcomer Dierks Bentley's gently musing "What Was I Thinkin'." All in all, CMT MOST WANTED, VOLUME 1 does its cable network proud, providing a satisfying cross-section of the wheat of modern country's hits.
