CLASSICAL BARBRA is just that; the superstar songstress presenting yet another facet of her style and ability. This collection is her take on classical favorites, and it's masterfully done. Produced, arranged and conducted by Claus Ogerman, and recorded with The Columbia Symphony Orchestra, the album originally had a working title of FOLLOW THE LIEDER. Streisand recalls the sessions as her "most difficult singing project."

Barbra's natural abilities make bridging the gap between pop and classical seem effortless. Her straightforwardness and sensitivity become apparent in these extraordinary performances. Her voice is a treasure, an instrument that blends in beautifully with the rest of the orchestra. Her rendition of Handel's "Dank Sei Dir, Herr" is both powerful and soothing. All in all, this record is a necessity for pop vocal and classical fans alike.
