Inarguably one of the most important figures in 20th-century American music, jazz impresario Norman Granz introduced live jazz to mainstream audiences with his Jazz at the Philharmonic concert series. This program celebrates Granz's pioneering legacy with a live performance by trumpeter Clark Terry at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in 1977. Backed by a sextet comprised of pianist Oscar Peterson, bassist Niels Pedersen, vibraphonist Milt Jackson, guitarist Joe Pass, drummer Bobby Durham, and tenor saxophonist Ronnie Scott, Terry performs classic numbers such as "Minor Blues, "Pennies from Heaven," and "God Bless the Child."
