An earnest pop singer-songwriter with a penchant for laid-back rapping, Mat Kearney has become the king of TV soundtracks, with placement on influential shows like GREY'S ANATOMY and THE HILLS. This 2009 release, his third studio album and second for a major label, features breezy, tuneful love-and-loss songs with very few hints of his CCM background, although the single "Closer to Love" has gently uplifting lyrics about faith through hard times. It also has an undeniable hook and impassioned vocal performance that will appeal to fans of John Meyer and Jason Mraz.
