After pulling off an ambitious project in 2001, pairing the album CHOICES with a full-length film starring the Memphis crew, Three 6 Mafia return four years later with a sequel of sorts, CHOICES 2: THE SETUP. The characters change, but the thread that ties the two together is the choices, between good and evil, violence and the straight life, and a million other choices faced by young men on urban streets nationwide. CHOICES 2 contains both a DVD featuring a movie about a heist gone wrong, and the soundtrack by the members of Three 6 Mafia and guests.
The soundtrack matches the stark film, a continuation of the sort of uncompromising underworld spectacle DJ Paul, Juicy J (with others) have cultivated over a slew of records. Three 6 Mafia explosively describe life on the streets with tracks like the potent "Yeah I Rob" and the booming "It's Whateva Wit Us." As if there were still any question as to whether they were still hardcore, they lay it out clearly with opening single, "Who I Is." Three 6 Mafia paint an uncompromising picture on CHOICES 2, a vibrant portrayal of thug life, echoing the rough-hewn film it accompanies.
