Idiosyncratic songwriter and performer Yoav sounds equally influenced by pared-down acoustic folk and futuristic, Timbaland-inspired club joints. CHARMED AND STRANGE lays out Yoav's inspired sonic imagination for all to hear, with its whispery singer-songwriterisms, hip-hop, echoes of world music, and a remarkable ability to mix it all into something fresh. Even more remarkable is the economy of Yoav's aesthetic: his voice, his acoustic guitar, and some simple beats are the only ingredients. The burbling, atmospheric "Adore Adore," and sinuous, head-nodding "Club Thing" are among the many highlights.
