Born in the south of France, Impressionist artist Paul Cézanne was profoundly influenced by his native Provence and devoted his working life to capturing its pastoral beauty through groundbreaking experiments with light, color, and perspective. A companion piece to the 2006 National Gallery exhibit of the same name, the PBS documentary CEZANNE IN PROVENCE explores the artist's relationship with his environment through interviews with art critics and historians as well as location footage of pivotal sites like the Bibémus quarry, the Atelier des Lauves, and Montagne Sainte-Victoire.
