A veteran singer and former member of Tiger Trap, Go Sailor, and the Softies, Rose Melberg is a central figure in the Pacific Northwest indie scene. Her first solo album, PORTOLA, was released to critical acclaim in 1998. And while some of her former projects were more varied in their arrangements, 2006's CAST AWAY THE CLOUDS does a nice job in spotlighting Melberg's sweet, clear vocals and chiming acoustic guitar playing. There's also a lovely piano ballad thrown in here for good measure.
