Review

Vibe (9/96, p.216) - "...his voice and lyrics are refreshingly earnest and sensitive...just sincere expressions of real love....a welcome declaration that the Era of the Mack needs to be over..."

Recorded at Funhouse Recordings, Valhalla, New York and Quad Studios, New York City, New York.

Case's single "Touch Me Tease Me," an R&B/rap crossover that sampled Schoolly D's "PSK," exploded on the scene in the summer of '96. And with his self-titled debut album, Case continues to blur the line between R&B and hip-hop with a mix of soft keyboard ballads and sample-heavy rap songs.

Case's audience will be, first and foremost, female, because of his overwhelming charm. But because he's backed mostly by slowed-up hip-hop beats, he'll end up appealing to everyone with a love for R&B. Unlike many contemporary male hip-hoppers, Case isn't afraid to express soft feelings; in "I Gotcha" and "Don't Be Afraid," he reassures that special woman in his life of his loyalty to her.
