Title Note

One of the most popular Nuevo Flamenco guitarists, Armik blends together traditional Spanish music with chic production and infectious beats on 2005's CAF� ROMANTICO. Armik's modern approach to flamenco incorporates New Age, light jazz, and pop. Because of this, his music crosses stylistic lines with great ease.

Songs such as "Rain Drops" and "Gypsy Romance" combine the virtuosity and stateliness of flamenco with a contemporary Carlos Santana-influenced Latin groove. The last track on CAF� ROMANTICO, entitled "Guitar Passion," is the most authentic flamenco piece on this release. This tune features the solo guitar work of Armik, and here the Californian guitarist revels in all the fancy turns of phrase characteristic of this genre. Armik's music is clearly flashy, but this works to his advantage, since flamenco is an ornamented style of music that demands a high level of technical ability. Thankfully, Armik's playing is searching, romantic, and lyrical--the qualities of a truly great flamenco musician.
