A collaboration between electronica experimentalist Lasse Marhaug and avant-jazz giants Ken Vandermark and Paul Nilssen-Love, Firebrand create sounds that are intense, gestural, passionate, and unsettling. The opening title track is a white-knuckle ride through cacophony, but there are also moments, like the reflective "Hand Lettered," that are surprisingly lyrical.
