Title Note

Dokken: Don Dokken (vocals, guitar); George Lynch (guitar); Juan Croucier (bass, background vocals); Mick Brown (drums).

L.A. rockers Dokken rose out of the same scene that spawned such '80s pop metal heavyweights as Motley Crue, Ratt, W.A.S.P., and Quiet Riot. The only problem was that when Dokken released their debut, 1983's BREAKING THE CHAINS, it got lost in the shuffle, as all four of the former bands' releases hogged the MTV spotlight and the press.

BREAKING THE CHAINS may not be as strong as future Dokken releases such as UNDER LOCK AND KEY and BACK FOR THE ATTACK would be, but it laid down the groundwork for their future success. Don Dokken's operatic vocals and tales of heartbreak, as well as George Lynch's six string heroics, are already on display throughout the album, especially on such highlights as the title track, "Paris Is Burning," and "In the Middle." Bassist Juan Croucier appears on the album, but was replaced by Jeff Pilson shortly after the its release, later resurfacing in Ratt.
