Title Note

Featuring three stalwarts of Detroit's garage scene--the Hentchmens' John Szymanski on synthesizer and vocals, the Sights' Dave Shettler on drums, and singer-guitarist Marty Morris of the Cyril Lords--SSM would be easy to pigeon as standard issue garage punk, but they dash any such stereotypes on BREAK YOUR ARM FOR EVOLUTION. Combining feral guitar abandon ("Johnny's Holding for the First Time") with loopy synth-pop melodies ("Start Dancing") and some forays into disco-punk territory (the rousing "Let's Make A Baby"), SSM find the universal pleasure center in each of these cross-genre, dancefloor-friendly rockers. The trio recorded this sophomore Alive/Natural Sound release in self-described "record time" onto an analog 8-track with one broken track.
