Down Beat (11/95, p.71) - 3 Stars - Good - "...[BOOGIE MY BLUES AWAY] deftly reveals Clearwater's harder, slow-burn blues roots....there's enough tough-textured Chicago blues on this album to put Clearwater somewhere in the middle of the West Side guitar hierarchy."
Living Blues (9-10/95, pp.96-97) - "...Clearwater presents himself well on this nicely mixed, 41-minute album. His singing is soulful, his guitar work is of high caliber, and his songwriting is strong....Fans of meat-and-potatoes Chicago blues will find much to like on BOOGIE MY BLUES AWAY."
