Bluesman Smokin' Joe Kubek slings his six strings in accordance with the old-school Texas blues tradition, which is to say his playing is gritty, stinging, and incandescent. Kubek and longtime partner guitarist/singer Bnois King bring it on home once again on BLOOD BROTHERS, an album of Southern-fried downtempo jams and roadhouse barnburners. King's rich voice and the band's rhythmic backbone give Kubek plenty of space to stretch out, but BLOOD BROTHERS is a group effort through and through, one that is sure to please fans of Freddie King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
