Title Note

Stardeath & White Dwarfs: James Pettigrew, Dennis Coyne, Casey Joseph, Matt Duckworth.

Formed after doing time with The Flaming Lips' road crew, fellow Oklahoma City weirdos Stardeath pulled together this debut full-length, featuring cover art by the Lips' Wayne Coyne. Oklahomans Evangelicas are the closest contemporary counterpoint, but THE BIRTH is steeped deep in some other kind of Hawkwind-meets-Raspberries mind-melding, with a fair dose of noisy, feedback-driven psych-doom. The title track, perhaps making a statement, blends all these influences indiscriminately, evoking a love-in featuring God Head Silo and Comets On Fire. But then there's "Those Who Are From The Sun Return To The Sun," an almost show-offy instrumental featuring boogie bass and disco drum solos. Stardeath certainly sound like they're from another planet, and it's one worth visiting for a concerted listen.
