Product Notes

An enormous variety of Bible-based entertainments are collected in BIBLE TIME CLASSICS, from low budget efforts to Hollywood-style spectaculars to European art films. The first of the two true gems in the set are ESTHER AND THE KING, starring a young Joan Collins and directed by the strange pairing of consummate Hollywood professional Raoul Walsh and Italian horror auteur Mario Bava. The second is THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. MATTHEW, the abstentious and celebrated film made by controversial Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini. Also included are the genre classics MARTIN LUTHER and THE GREAT COMMANDMENT, a sampling of Bible stories adapted for 1950s television drama anthology programs, and the films DAVID AND GOLIATH, SAUL AND DAVID, and JOSEPH AND HIS BRETHREN.
