Despite releasing only two full-length studio albums in the span of 13 years--1995's BROWN SUGAR and 2000's VOODOO--neo-soul star D'Angelo (born Michael Eugene Archer) unveiled a greatest-hits collection in '08. Instead of merely compiling the hits from those records, however, BEST also presents a number of rare tunes by D'Angelo from his many album-less years. In addition to the successful slow jams "Lady" and "Untitled (How Does It Feel)," this CD/DVD set includes "Your Precious Love," a 1960s-inspired duet with Erykah Badu, and "Be Here," a vibrant live collaboration with Raphael Saadiq. With its 17 audio tracks and seven videos, THE BEST SO FAR lives up to its title.
