Title Note

This 2000 collection of the finest work from California "stoner rock" icons Kyuss features 15 tracks, including hits, rare unreleased songs, live performances, and B-sides.

Kyuss is perhaps best known as the band that spawned Queens of the Stone Age. But before QOTSA's rise to fame, Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri were busy pioneering stoner rock. This collection is a standard odds-and-sods compilation, including B-sides and live versions of the band's most popular tracks. Six of the eleven B-sides find Kyuss indulging their considerable chops via some heavy instrumental mayhem. The remaining non-instrumentals are all solid, but aren't quite on par with the material from the band's masterful releases. The live tracks ("Gardenia," "Thumb," "Conan Troutman," and "Freedom Run") prove that Kyuss were as muscular on stage as in the studio. While this collection isn't necessarily ideal for new listeners, longtime fans of Kyuss will appreciate having all these rare tracks gathered in one place.
