Released in 2008, shortly after Rhino reissued Joy Division's only studio albums--UNKNOWN PLEASURES and CLOSER--this well-selected 14-track compilation draws tracks from those two post-punk classics, while also including a number of singles by the brooding U.K. ensemble. Though every song on the collection is indispensable, standout tracks are the spiky "Digital," the ominous "Transmission," and, of course, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," frontman Ian Curtis's swooning synth-pop farewell to the world.
