As the godfather of go-go, Chuck Brown has few competitors. One of Washington, D.C.'s best-kept secrets, Brown essentially jump-started the scene known as go-go in the 1970s, and his high-energy, big-band funk sound and endless live shows epitomized the genre. Since Chuck Brown is best experienced live, however, finding satisfying studio recordings can prove challenging.

The double-disc BEST OF CHUCK BROWN solves that problem once and for all by offering a superbly selected compilation that covers the expanse of Brown's prolific career.
