This compilation concentrates on the Call's post-Mercury recordings, generally regarded as its most creatively fertile period. The group was known for throwing itself whole-heartedly into its work, leaving ironic detachment to those with less passion and spiritual conviction. Its fervor is apparent throughout this collection.

Things kick off appropriately with the anthemic "Let the Day Begin," where singer Michael Been offers his wish for blessings on people in every walk of life, accompanied by a surging beat and mountainous power chords. Been's faith in God is documented on "Everywhere I Go" and "I Still Believe," which mated theological fealty with radio-friendly hooks. The darker side of faith is shown on the bluesy "You Were There," which attempts to reconcile God's omnipotence with the preponderance of tragedy in the world. Reaching back to the group's first album, "The Walls Came Down" is a Talking Heads-ish song about international paranoia and the politics of war, which became a radio staple thanks to its ironic-but-infectious chant-along chorus. The hook for hardcore Call fans is the presence of previously unreleased tracks, a couple of which would resurface on the group's comeback album TO HEAVEN AND BACK.
