The full-length debut from the U.K.'s Annotations Of An Autopsy, BEFORE THE THRONE, is a heady mix of death metal, hardcore punk, and grindcore, with just a wee touch of emo. Unlike some of their peers, the band isn't averse to lightening the mood a little--via some relatively subdued instrumental pieces--before returning to their legacy of brutal riffing. Annotations of An Autopsy frequently feature group-sung/shouted vocals, too, and the recording mix favors the booming drum sound of the gods.
