THE BEATLES TAPES I: IN THE NORTHWEST is a collection of interviews, press conferences, radio promos, news footage and on-stage introductions from the Beatles' first North American tour in 1964. Included are radio interviews with Canadian DJ Red Robinson conducted in Vancouver in 1964 and Seattle in 1966.

Includes liner notes by Red Robinson.

Excerpts from interviews and introductions done with the Beatles in Vancouver in 1964, and in Seattle in 1966, by the well-known and influential Northwest DJ Red Robinson are here interspersed with live concert introductions and interviews by members of the Canadian press corps. As with many mid-1960s press confrontations with pop idols, the effect is of explorers discovering a brand new species--the fun lies in observing tables being subtly and not-so-subtly turned.
