Though the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA of the 1970s is primarily known as a kitschy cult favorite, this darker incarnation is beloved by critics and fans alike. The series follows the last surviving humans who are at war with their own robotic creation, the Cylons. The man-versus-machine concept may be a genre cliché, but the show brings intelligence and a healthy dose of social commentary to the table. After the game-changing finale of season two, the third season begins with the majority of the humans living on New Caprica, but they're under a Cylon occupation. President Baltar (James Callis) is a Cylon puppet, and Starbuck (Katee Sackoff) is held captive by Leoben (Callum Keith Rennie). But an insurgency led by Col. Tigh (Michael Hogan), Anders (Michael Trucco), and Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) keeps hope alive for the humans as they struggle to survive under Cylon rule. From this startling beginning to the shocking revelations of the third season finale, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA continues its Peabody Award-winning tradition of challenging viewers with its lack of clear-cut heroes or villains. Edward James Olmos stars as the head of the fleet, while Mary McDonnell plays the former president. This release includes the third season in its entirety.
