The Brooklyn neo-folk singer-songwriter Jeff London retained much of his Pacific Northwestern musical sensibility when he relocated to Brooklyn in the early 2000s, as evidenced by his song cycle about the move, 2007's THE BANE OF PROGRESS. London's voice and world view conjure memories of his fellow Oregonian, the late singer Elliot Smith, in a series of gentle, tuneful songs such as the mournful "Scar Showing Parade" and the charmingly evocative "In Love With a Few," on which he's occasionally backed by tasteful strings and a restrained rhythm section.
