Distributor Note

The train is pulling in and the mobsters and monsters who populate this caper are ready to settle a score that’s been a long time coming. But this ain’t about revenge or pride. This is about the ins and outs of living forever. It’s about making your way among thieves with honor and politicians with dirty hands. This is about sticking up for the guys that do you right and the gals that love you good.

For now, how’s about we start at the end of the story, where a ruthless alchemist is gonna get his after a couple of centuries of shady soul eating. It's as good a start as any for a story that never ends.

Ep 13 - Both the Immortals and Those Who Aren’t Sing the Praises of Life Equally
Here’s what’s what: The story ends but it doesn’t. A monster pledges his devotion. His tears run dry. His greatest fear rises to meet him. She is used to taking orders, but now she has a request. He is the last bomb. The puddle of blood is alive. He burns as easily as a cotton glove. He gains centuries of knowledge. He learns what it is like to die. The thieves steal his pain. He will drown for half a century. He expresses his sincerity by shooting him in the head. She vows to never give up on him. The beginning of the story arrives. They have met before. They meet for the first time. They can be family. These are the days. Manhattan is a big place. Decades later, it dawns on them.

Ep 14 - Graham Specter’s Love and Peace
Here’s what’s what: The story ended where it began, but there’s more. His story starts. Line ‘em up, knock ‘em down. If you don’t know the rules to the game, make them up. Sometimes it’s fun to just have fun. Sometimes it’s fun to make others miserable. The psycho meets a maniac. A man is the company he keeps. There’s no joy in killing a guy with a death wish. He was there. He’s there but not with them. Some immortals just never change. He wants her to smile. She spoke. He wonders if it is too late for her to smile. She knows there’s one way to keep a secret that is easier than the rest. Should he have said no? The report has been filed. She saw him die, but which time?

Ep 15 - The Delinquents That Arrive at the High-Class Neighborhood Are the Same as Always
Here’s what’s what: She wasn’t always scarred. He didn’t bring the money. He brought the bounty on his head. They brought the money and they brought her. She acts very casual for an admitted terrorist. His story is unbelievable. He proves it. She recalls the monster with fondness. He isn’t sure about her. She changes from black to white. That’s not what he meant by alone. The accessories make the dress. She isn’t sure about him. He proposed more than marriage. He’s allowed to contradict himself. He throws a wrench in her plans for a walk through the park. She’s the wrong girl. He’s a hero. He didn’t always have a tattoo on his face. He loves her. He never told her he loved her. Now he has their attention. He’ll fight for her.

Ep 16- Carol Realizes That the Story Cannot Have an Ending
Here’s what’s what: The mouse might be the main character. They know all about it. They don’t know anything. He is cooperating more than expected for a psychopath. He buys her silence. She buys peace of mind. His name delivers terror. She slips out of the celebration. He’s a man of many names. The note was ambiguous. The monster is surprisingly human. The informant takes a ride. The barrel is empty. They look into each other’s eyes. After so many centuries, they are reunited. After only moments, they say goodbye for now. She finds a way to let go. He is in human form. They weigh the pros and cons of jumping to conclusions when considering a caper with almost twenty lead characters that spans centuries. Their story never ends. The story never ends.

Product Notes

This stylized anime tells the centuries-spanning tale of a group of alchemists who, one night in 1711, took a boat trip to the middle of the ocean in search of a demon who would provide them with an elixir of immortality, the recipe for said elixir, and the secret to ending their existence should they choose to use it. They found what they were looking for, but soon realized the dangers of staying in close proximity to each other when it was discovered that one of them had eaten another. Years down the line, the immortals once again meet up in Prohibition-era America and cause a huge ruckus, or, as the Italians say, baccano! This fourth volume includes episodes 13-16.
