Avant Artist Snapshot:

The cousin of R. Kelly, Avant (born Myron Avant) is an urban contemporary singer and songwriter. Avant struck gold with his 1998 single, "Separated," which cracked the top of Billboard's R&B charts. His 2000 debut full-length, MY THOUGHTS, was produced by Steve Huff and released on Magic Johnson's label Magic Johnson Music. The album set the template for Avant's modern soul sound, which bears resemblences to R Kelly's, a sound refined on subsequent albums such as 2002's ECSTACY and 2006's DIRECTOR. Avant signed with Capitol for his 2008 self-titled release, which spawned the Top 20 R&B single "Break Ya Back."

Album Description

The game of R&B has seen its fair share of players over the past decade. Many have been drafted, but few have possessed that special talent needed to stay relevant in today''s ever-changing marketplace. Avant entered the arena of R&B in 2000 with his debut album My Thoughts, which featured the hit single "Separated". Not only would his first single claim the #1 position on the Billboard R&B Chart, but with the success of other classic ballads on the album such as "My First Love" feat. Keke Wyatt, My Thoughts would go onto sell over 1 million copies. Unrelenting in his desire to continue to make hit records, the singer/songwriter would go on to deliver three more unprecedented albums, including his most recent album to date, Director, which featured one of the biggest R&B ballads of 2006, "4 Minutes."

With four albums under his belt the Avant brand has been established, and his loyal fans eagerly await yet another soulful addition to the collection from the R&B crooner. For his new self-titled album, Avant has called on the talents of some of today''s hottest producers, including: Trackmasters (LL Cool J), Antonio Dixon & Eric Dawkins a.k.a Anonymous Entertainment (Fantasia) and The Architects (Missy Elliott). With his distinguishable sultry vocals, accompanied by an all-star production team, fans will definitely be pleased when they sit back, relax, reflect and listen to AVANT.

Avants new self titled cd reminds us of the reason why we fell in love with him in the first place. The sexy, sensual love ballads are classic Avant. He has also stepped out the box and lead his listeners willingly into other worlds. The freaky world with "Out of Character" and "Break Ya Back" and the old school with "Y.O.U.". Then at the end of this blissful ride, he wraps you up in serenity and tranquility with his rendition of Christopher Crosss "Sailing". Avant is definitely the velvet voice of R&B and his new album and sophisticated vocals are a much needed breath of fresh air. Thank you Avant.
