Title Note

The Oregon quartet Yume Bitsu stands up amongst the shoe gazers. Typically, bedroom dreampop revels in cascading, heavily reverbed guitars, ethereal vocals, and penchants for drawing out those notes to an overdriven jam level. Yume Bitsu borrows slow motion drum beats from Mogwai, transcendental harmonies from My Bloody Valentine, and odd effects from Spiritualized. AUSPICIOUS WINDS stands out by implementing dub and ambient textures into the mix.

On "Mothmen Meet the Council of Frogs," electronic washes dominate the musical landscape, broken up only by the occasional floor tom and cymbal. "Into the Hole" comes equipped with alarmingly Sting-esque vocals peering out from the haze. "Sharp, Twisted" almost tilts the vessel towards indie rock territory with its Superchunk-like layers of guitar melody and pop sensibilities. If you go to sleep with this bedroom pop, your dreams will be, at the very least, interesting.
