Get Him Eat Him Artist Snapshot:

The members of the joyful, Rhode Island-based indie quintet, Get Him Eat Him, first met at Brown University. Frontman Matt LeMay was joined by Jason Sigal (guitar/vocals), Raf Spielman (keyboards), Jeff Wood (drums), and Joe Posner (bass), and together they collaborated on songs LeMay had been working on since high school. Inspired equally by Teenage Fanclub's genteel sound and the angular song structures of '90s underground icons like Shudder To Think and Jawbox, the group quickly found a home amidst mid-2000s contemporaries like The Wrens and Wolf Parade. Their 2005 debut, GEOGRAPHY CONES, was released on Absolutely Kosher in 2005, and was followed up by 2007's ARMS DOWN.

Review

CMJ (p.41) - "The Providence, Rhode Island-based five-piece has been making dependable, keyboard-laden guitar-pop in the vein of Ted Leo and the New Pornographers since they formed in 2004..."

Additional personnel: Charles Bissell (12-string guitar); Kristin Ferber (violin); Amy Domingues (cello); Jon Natchez (baritone saxophone); Zach Condon (trumpet); Chris Brown (trombone, tuba, Hammond b-3 organ).

On 2007's ARMS DOWN, its second outing for the Absolutely Kosher label, Get Him Eat Him presents a lively set of indie-pop songs. Featuring an extensive instrumental arsenal made possible, in part, by guest appearances from members of the Wrens, Beirut, and Broken Social Scene, the group excels at crafting dynamic, densely layered tunes (see the bright, horn-laden "2x2"), making the record ideal for fans of the aforementioned acts and other kindred pop sojourners such as Sufjan Stevens.
