Bulgarian born singer/songwriter Geri X comes on like the ultimate coffee shop chanteuse. Her precise finger-picking, spare arrangements, and open-hearted melodies work wonderfully in support of a voice that finds a satisfying middle ground between Dar William's emotive croon and Tracy Bonham's husky drawl. ANTHEMS OF A MENDED HEART is her sixth album, and more or less hones to the template of its similarly spare, but gratifyingly intimate predecessors.
