The cast recording from the original 1977 musical ANNIE, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, is one of the biggest-selling Broadway recordings, thanks in large part to instant standards like "Tomorrow" (a showcase ballad for star Andrea McArdle) and the bouncy "It's a Hard-Knock Life" (later somewhat improbably sampled by Jay-Z for one of his biggest hits).
