Wonderful look and listen to hearing Bach on the piano as it should be heard.
The posting does not say it, but this is a 2 DVD set, with Disc 2 being a live
all Bach Recital by Ms Hewitt--Partita #4, Italian Concerto, and Chromatic
Fantasy & Fugue. The camera work in the Recital Disc is a bit frustrating at
times, showing more of Ms Hewitt than her hands, which are busy doing what she
has taught/suggested in the previous Disc. At 210 minutes running time I was
fascinated enough to watch it the first time straight thru. Having all of her
previous Bach CDs from Hyperion, I knew, therefore, of her approach to Bach, so
it was wonderful to hear and see her explain how she does it. How nice too to
hear Bach on the piano with little or no pedal. I waited a long time for this
DVD to become available and certainly was not disappointed. Well worth waiting
for.
