Publisher's note

Traces the surfing life of the late charismatic and enigmatic surfing athlete, documenting his outspoken opposition to surfing's mass popularity, his friendship with such figures as Jack Nicholson, and his round-the-world chase with the FBI. 50,000 first printing.

Annotation

David Rensin recounts the rebellious life of Miki Dora, who was an innovator and pioneer in two different arenas of social defiance--surfing and credit card fraud. Dora was one of Malibu's earliest wave-riders, though he soon began a global quest for beaches uncluttered by the masses of imitators that flocked to take up the fledgling sport. Unfortunately, he financed his nomadic wanderings with other people's credit cards, usually without their awareness or approval. Thus, his romantic quest to attain personal fulfillment through surfing solitude eventually culminated in a lonely prison cell. Bummer, dude.
