Title Note

Pablo Diaz-Riexa is the mastermind behind the dizzying, kaleidoscopic world-beat of Barcelona's El Guincho, whose debut explores a myriad of genres, from tropicalia and afro-pop to surf and tejano, through the cracked lens of Diaz-Riexa's postmodern musical sensibility. Using looped samples, including overdubbed layers of frantically chanted vocals, Diaz-Riexa has created a trippy, infectiously exuberant set of tunes that recall a more rhythmically inclined take on some of the Animal Collective's more pop-inflected outings.
