A Skylit Drive Artist Snapshot:

A Skylit Drive is a Lodi, California-based six-piece who operate in the post-hardcore continuum of the 2000s, combining pop-leaning emo influences with the harder edged sounds of metalcore and screamo. Formed while the original members were attending high school, the group issued an EP, SHE WATCHED THE SKY, in 2007. A round of personnel changes ensued and in 2008, their debut full-length, WIRES. AND THE CONCEPT OF BREATHING, appeared, breaking the Billboard Top 200. An exclusive DVD for teen clothing outlet Hot Topic appeared in late-2008, along with a follow-up album, ADELPHIA, in 2009.

Slotting comfortably in with the general direction of pop-leaning punk in the 2000s, post-hardcore act A Skylit Drive deploy the now familiar formula of alternating angst-ridden screaming (growling) with soaring, melodic (sung) choruses. While the Lodi, California-based six-piece's third release, ADELPHIA, doesn't explore any groundbreakingly original territory, the album's savvy blend of astringent metalcore and screamo influences, combined with infectiously catchy emo-style vocals--delivered in a nosebleed register by vaguely Geddy Lee-sounding front man Mike Jagmin--makes clear that the band do what they do very well.
