Personnel: Andy Scott (vocals, guitars, synthesizer); Steve Priest (vocals, bass guitar); Mick Tucker (vocals, drums, timpani, gong); Brian Connolly (vocals).

A touch more dangerous than the Bay City Rollers, but consciously lacking Kiss's demonic approach to glam in favor of sugary accessibility, England's Sweet expertly blended gooey bubblegum melodies with hard rock moxie for a series of hits during the 1970s that included "Wig Wam Bam," "Little Willie," and "Fox On the Run," among others. ACTION is a double-disc set from Shout Factory that collects all of the key tracks from the band's memorable run. Chronicling Sweet from their first hit "Funny Funny" (a sugar smack of a singalong straight from the Kasenetz and Katz playbook) up through the harder, slightly more mature songs from GIVE US A WINK and LEVEL HEADED, the set shows Sweet to be forgotten wizards of the always dubious alchemy of pop-rock hit-making.
