CMJ (p.5) - "Old-school indie-vet Bass D is back with more boom-bap....The beats are serviceably bangin'..."
This imaginatively assembled collection of hip-hop features the Nashville rapper Count Bass-D's freestyle musings, spoken over a nicely trashy sounding backdrop of found samples, electronic doodles, and slow-as-molasses beats. D's hazy stream-of-consciousness raps and reminiscences meander in and out of thickly layered cuts like "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms," "The Slugger of Louisville," and the freewheeling "Internationally Known," until, with its interwoven music samples, the set sounds like a sound collage of the last three decades of R&B.
