The Beatles Artist Snapshot:

No other band has had quite the same impact as the four lads from Liverpool. Over the course of eight years and more than a dozen albums, the Beatles changed popular music and culture forever, spearheading the 1960s British Invasion and shaping rock & roll along the way. Along with their amazing musical output and unprecedented worldwide celebrity, John, Paul, George, and Ringo were responsible for many pop music revolutions, major and minor--writing their own material, pushing the limits of the studio, making films of their music, printing song lyrics on albums--that today are taken for granted. Although the Beatles disbanded in 1970, their artistic legacy is permanently ingrained in the entire world's musical vocabulary.

Product Notes

The Beatles' last days as a band were as productive as any major pop phenomenon that was about to split. After recording the ragged-but-right Let It Be, the group held on for this ambitious effort, an album that was to become their best-selling. Though all four contribute to the first side's writing, John Lennon's hard-rocking, "Come Together" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" make the strongest impression. A series of song fragments edited together in suite form dominates side two; its portentous, touching, official close ("Golden Slumbers"/"Carry That Weight"/"The End") is nicely undercut, in typical Beatles fashion, by Paul McCartney's cheeky "Her Majesty," which follows. --Rickey Wright

By god
...such a poignant and oceanic opus...with slick grooves and lyrics alike, the Beatles 1969 album Abbey Road left an indelible mark on the history of rock n roll and pop music. What these performances offer to hardcore fans and new listeners alike is growth,a sense of love, maturity and most of all sadness(the group split up shortly after this album) With Abbey Road, listeners will be pleased with the hard but yet appealing grooves, the timeless beauty and dedication the fab four bring. In a nutshell, Abbey Road is a milestone, a classic. open your ears and minds for ABBEY ROAD!
