Rich with the style of classic soul, KeAnthony's debut A HUSTLAZ STORY is both street smart and sleekly sophisticated. With a background that involves hardships, relationships gone wrong, and prison (which are addressed honestly in the album's songs), KeAnthony has his share of material to draw on. But it's the lush arrangements and passionate performances that pack a punch. Opener "Down Girl" is one of the disc's few uptempo tracks, leaving plenty of room for ballads and slow jams, on which KeAnthony consistently demonstrates his impressive vocal chops. This 2008 debut is a promising one from an R&B singer with an eye on soul music's past and future.
