Singer and actress Kate Voegele got her start as a regular cast member of the soapy teen drama ONE TREE HILL, where she played a struggling-singer-songwriter. Her debut album, released through the record label arm of the social network MySpace, was a fairly typical example of post-Rick Springfield tie-in product, but on her second album, A FINE MESS, Voegele makes a fair claim to being taken as seriously as the likes of Taylor Swift, Mandy Moore, or Cobie Caillat. A crisp, glossy pop record with a hint of rock edge amidst the sweeping ballads, A FINE MESS is expert ear candy, as deliciously insubstantial as a box of caramel corn.
