Truman Capotes short story "A Christmas Memory" was first produced by ABC Stage
67 in 1966 starring Geraldine Page and Donnie Melvin with Capote as narrator.
That production is available on VHS videotape. Its old, black-and-white, and
the quality is not the best.
However, that 1966 production is FAR SUPERIOR to
this piece of nonsense starring Patty Duke. The Patty Duke production is syrupy
sweet and lacks the depth of emotion, feeling, and meaning in the Geraldine Page
1966 production.
First, buy a copy of the book and read it a couple of
times. Read it all the way through when you have quiet time. Then, search and
search and dont stop until you find a copy of the 1966 production.
Dont waste
your time on the Patty Duke version.
